Hey Lovelies! As winter days are beginning to dwindle, I'm making it a mission to enjoy every bit of our last few colder days with my winter wear pieces.  This overcoat missed the cut from last year and year before that so I made it a mission to make sure I finally got some wearing out of it this winter. Not really sure why I wasn't too attracted to this coat in past years; perhaps the print was a little too busy but, I'm glad I didn't dispose of it because this year I actually became fond of the busyness of the tribal print. I procrastinated in wearing it earlier this season because I kinda struggled with how I'd pair a colorful winter tribal overcoat. However, when I stopped overthinking it, it dawned on me to pair my fun outerwear with basic pieces instead of overdoing it; the coat itself already makes a bold statement. Wearing a simple black midi dress gave me just the chic factor I was aiming for. To accent the vibrant winter tribal print of my overcoat, I decided to pair these fun and flirty pom pom sandals from Lola Shoetique's SS16 Collection. They added the perfect pop of color, bringing out the aqua color in my coat.

There are two little fashion tips/tricks to take from this look. Have you ever bought a bold statement piece, but once you got home you wondered why in the heck you purchased it aside from it being just what it is, a bold statement piece? If that ever happens to you, don't immediately return it or give it away. Let it sit in your closet for a little while. A little while just might turn into a few years, but pull it out again some day and attempt pairing it with the current items in your wardrobe. You just might surprise yourself and find how relevant you've made this piece again. Secondly, when you have a statement piece that makes a pretty big statement on its own, don't stress out. Nine times out of ten, the statement piece can be simply complimented with the basics to avoid totally overkilling your look!
